Hamburger Skillet Stew Method
The first thing you need to
do is take the meat and roll into little meatballs. Cook the
meatballs in a frying pan until they are light brown and cooked
through. Drain the fat from the frying pan and place it back
on the heat. Then add the onion to the pan and cook until
just soft. Slowly add the boiling water and beef extract to
the onions and stir. Add the carrots, potatoes, celery, bay
leaves, dried thyme, salt and pepper and stir well. Turn the
heat down to low and simmer the stew until vegetables are
soft and tender. Mix the tomato juice and the flour together
in a bowl until there are no lumps left. Add the paste to
the frying pan. Stir the 20 minute hamburger skillet stew
occassionally until the sauce thickens. This stew is excellent
served with a hot bread roll or dumplings.
