BARBECUED
PORK STRIPS RECIPE
Barbecued Pork Strips are definately
a different way of cooking them. I have never ever cooked
anything hanging from the top shelf of the oven but these
Barbecued Pork Strips are absolutely great tasting and are
very unique. I thought my mother was going a bit crazy the
first time I saw her cooking the Barbecued Pork Strips but
boy did I really enjoy them.
Barbecued
Pork Strips Ingredients
2 lb boneless pork butt
MARINADE:
2 Tbs sugar
2 Tbs dry sherry
1 Tbs minced garlic
1 Tbs hoisin sauce
1 Tbs red bean curd
2 Tbs light soy sauce
1 tsp five spice powder
1 Tbs brown bean sauce
BASTING LIQUID:
3 Tbs honey
3 Tbs boiling water
Barbecued
Pork Strips Method
The first
thing to do is to get the pork strips ready so cut the piece
of pork butt in half and then cut the two halves into 3/4
inch strips. In a glass bottle put all the marinade ingredients
and put the lid on and shake it really hard till the ingredients
are combined really well. Put the pork strips into a glass
bowl and cover them with the marinade and leave them for 3
hours in the refrigerator. Remove the pork strips from the
marinade and baste the strips with the honey basting mixture.
Use curved skewers that are available in Chinese cookware
shops to hang the meat from the top shelf of the oven over
a large pan filled with water to a depth of 1/4 inch. Roast
the Barbecued Pork Strips at 350 degrees for 45 minutes while
basting occasionally with the honey basting liquid. Increase
the heat to 425 degrees and roast for 20 minutes to finish
the pork strips. When the Barbecued Pork Strips are cool enough
to handle cut them into 1/2 inch slices. Arrange the pork
slices on a platter with little cocktail forks for your visitors
to pick up their appetizer with.
Enjoy your freshly made Barbecued
Pork Strips!
