EASTER EGG BREAD RECIPE

This recipe will teach you how to make Easter Egg Bread. It is a quick and easy recipe to make. Easter Egg Bread is a bread recipe that the children will love helping you with as they can paint the easter eggs. This bread looks and tastes fantastic. A real special treat for easter.

Easter Egg Bread Ingredients

9 eggs
1 tsp salt
1 tsp water
2 Tbs butter

2/3 cup milk

1/4 cup sugar

easter egg colouring kit

2 Tbs grated lemon peel

1 packet active dry yeast

3 1/2 cups all purpose flour


Easter Egg Bread Method

In a bowl mix sugar, salt, yeast and 1 cup flour. Heat butter and milk until warm. With mixer at low speed beat liquid into dry ingredients then at medium speed beat 2 minutes. Beat in 2 eggs, 1 egg white and 3/4 cup flour and beat 2 minutes. Stir in lemon peel and 1 1/4 cups flour. On floured surface knead dough about 5 minutes working in about 1/2 cup flour and then place in greased bowl turning to grease top. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled about 1 1/2 hours. Meanwhile dye 6 eggs your favourite colours following label directions from easter egg colouring kit but do not hard cook eggs then set aside.

Punch down dough and turn onto floured surface and cover for 25 minutes. Grease large cookie sheet. Cut dough in half then form each half into a 30 inch long rope. On cookie sheet twist ropes together to form ring leaving holes for 5 eggs. Cover and let rise until doubled about 1 1/2 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Insert raw colored eggs into holes in twist. In a cup beat egg yolk with water and use to brush dough. Bake the Easter Egg Bread 30 minutes or until golden. Cool on wire rack.
