Beef Ingredients
2 Tbs cooking oil
2 tsp minced garlic
2 cups broccoli florets
4 small dried red chilies
1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 2 tsp water
3/4 pound flank steak thinly sliced across the grain
Marinade:
2 Tbs soy sauce
2 tsp cornstarch
1 Tbs dry sherry
Sauce:
2 tsp sugar
1 Tbs dry sherry
1 tsp sesame oil
1 Tbs soy sauce
2 tsp chili garlic sauce
3 Tbs balsamic vinegar

Beef Method
Combine marinade ingredients
in a bowl and then add the beef and stir to coat and then
let stand for 10 minutes. Combine sauce ingredients in a bowl.
Place broccoli in a large pot with 1 inch of boiling water
and boil until tender crisp and drain. Place a wok over high
heat until hot and add oil swirling to coat sides. Add garlic
and chilies and cook stirring until fragrant about 10 seconds
then add beef and stir fry until no longer pink. Add broccoli
and sauce to wok then bring to a boil. Add cornstarch solution
and cook stirring until sauce boils and thickens. Serve the
Hunan Beef with a bowl of boiled rice or noodles.
