MEATBALLS
AND GRAVY RECIPE
This recipe
will teach you how to make Meatballs and Gravy. It is an easy
recipe to make. Meatballs
and Gravy is a great beef recipe to make. It taste great and
the whole family will love it served with mashed potatoes
and beans or over white rice.
Meatballs
and Gravy Ingredients
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup water
1 pinch nutmeg
2 Tbs cornstarch
1/2 lb ground pork
1 large egg beaten
1/4 tsp dried thyme
1/2 cup minced onions
11/2 lb lean ground beef
14 1/2 oz can beef broth
3 tsp vegetable oil, divided
3 Tbs chopped fresh parsley
14 1/2 oz can chicken broth
1/4 tsp fresh grated lemon rind
1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper, divided
2 slices white bread soaked in water and squeezed dry
Meatballs
and Gravy Method
Combine ground beef, pork, bread,
onion, parsley, egg, salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper and the pinch
of nutmeg in medium bowl. Shape mixture into 1 inch balls.
Heat 1 1/2 teaspoons oil in large skillet over medium heat
and then add half of the meatballs and cook until browned
about 8 minutes then drain oil. Transfer meatballs to paper
towel lined plate and repeat with remaining 1/12 teaspoon
oil and meatballs.
Add beef and chicken broths to skillet return meatballs to
skillet then bring to a boil and reduce heat, cover and simmer
30 minutes. In a small bowl combine water and cornstarch and
stir well to make a slurry. Add to meatballs and broth then
bring to a gentle boil to thicken. Add remaining pepper, grated
lemon peel and thyme and cook slowly for 5 minutes longer.
Serve Meatballs and Gravy over mashed potatoes or steamed
white rice.
