ORANGE
DUMPLINGS WITH BEEF STEW RECIPE
This recipe
will teach you how to make Orange Dumplings with Beef Stew.
It is an easy recipe to make. This stew has a wonderful flavour
with the orange dumplings with it. No one would ever think
about doing orange dumplings with a beef stew but my dear
old grandmother use to do this dish every week and we all
enjoyed it.
Orange
Dumplings with Beef Stew Ingredients
1 onion
1 dsp fat
1/2 carrot
2 potatoes
1 cup stock
chopped parsley
6 pickled walnuts
1 1/2 lb stewing steak
1 Tbs seasoned plain flour
For the Orange Dumplings:
pinch salt
3 Tbs self raising flour
1 1/2 oz shredded suet
1 dsp grated orange rind
water and orange juice to mix

Dumplings with Beef Stew Method
Peel and dice the onion, potatoes
and carrot. Cut the meat into cubes and roll in the seasoned
flour. Melt the fat in a saucepan and add the vegetables and
fry lightly then add the steak and cook until it changes colour.
Pour on the stock. Cover and simmer gently for 1 1/2 hours
or until the steak is almost tender then add the sliced walnuts.
Drop the dumplings on top and cook for a further 30 minutes.Serve
the Orange Dumplings with Beef Stew sprinkled with parsley.
To make the dumplings:
Sift the flour with the salt, add the orange rind, rub in
the suet, and mix to a soft dough with the combined water
and orange juice. Divide into small portions, each about 1
inch in diameter and roll into balls. Drop on top of the meat
when adding the walnuts.
