SHORT
RIBS RECIPE
This recipe
will teach you how to make Short Ribs. It is a quick and easy
recipe to make. This recipe can be cooked on the gas stove
in your van or in a dutch oven over the hot coals of your
fire. The flavour of this camping recipe is absolutely fantastic.
I believe cooking it in a dutch oven over the coals makes
the Short ribs taste better as the flavour is sealed in the
dutch oven.

Ribs Ingredients
flour
1 tsp salt
1 bay leaf
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup vinegar
1 cup hot water
2 Tbs soy sauce
2 Tbs brown sugar
3 lb beef short ribs
1 cup onions sliced
3/4 tsp black pepper
1 clove garlic minced
2 Tbs vegetable shortening
1 green pepper cut into rings

Ribs Method
Trim off
excess fat from the meat. Combine flour, salt and black pepper.
Dredge meat in mixture to coat completely. Heat shortening
in large skillet and add ribs and brown on all sides. Remove
to a casserole with cover. Saute onions and garlic in skillet
until golden then spoon over ribs. Combine water, bay leaf,
brown sugar, vinegar and soy sauce and pour over Short Ribs.
Cover the Short Ribs and bake at 350 for 1 3/4 hours then
add green pepper rings. Cook 15 to 20 minutes longer or until
meat is tender. Remove cooked Short Ribs and vegetables to
a serving platter. Skim fat off drippings and thicken with
a little flour if desired. Spoon drippings over Short Ribs
and vegetables.
